MYA 2.0 Lock-In Retreat July 10-11
Friday, July 10
Have you ever wondered what ministry opportunities you are best-suited for within the Body? Do you know how God has gifted you? “Spiritual Gifts in the Body of Christ” is the theme of the Metropolitan Young Adults (MYA) 2.0 Lock-in Retreat which will be held July 10-11 at the Family Life Center. Our speaker is Dr. Mike Lawson from Dallas Theological Seminary, and he will be sharing with us on this very important, yet often misunderstood, topic. He will discuss how knowing and understanding in what ways God has gifted you will help you identify areas of ministry within the church where you can be most effective. The retreat will kick off Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at noon on Saturday. For more information, contact Trudy Hoffsommer
or Johnny Hughes.
Missions Sunday, July 12
Sunday, July 12

Sunday, July 12, will be a day of remembrance as we will have Rev. Argyl Dick with us for Missions Sunday. The purpose of this Sunday is to help remind and encourage our congregation to support missions and missionaries through our stewardship of prayer, time and finances. It will also be a day to challenge us to consider a vocational missions ministry, either on a short-term basis or in a full-time capacity. Argyl Dick is the Senior Chaplain and Administrator of Oklahoma Jail and Prison Ministries. He and his wife Janel live in northwest Oklahoma City.
Straw Hat Camp July 12-15
Sunday, July 12
Straw Hat Camp is for all children who have finished 2nd – 5th grades. This year we will be traveling to the Texas Panhandle near Wellington, Texas. We will enjoy God’s great creation and all that Straw Hat Camp has to offer. Slither down a giant 110’ slide into Panther Creek. Canoeing, paddle boating, a ropes course complete with a 30’ tower and a 500’ double zip line will also be part of the experience. Check your sites at the rifle range, and cool off in the indoor pool or game room. You can also try your luck at the fishing hole. Of course, you will want to pack your Bible and be ready to be
challenged from God’s Word. The cost is $95. Hope to see you there !

Pastor Tim Heritage to speak July 19
Sunday, July 19
The Rev. Tim Heritage served on the pastoral staff of Metropolitan Baptist Church for more than twenty years. He and his wife, Esther, were beloved by the church for their faithfulness to the Lord and their dedication to the ministry of helping people grow in Christ.
Pastor Tim will be our guest speaker on Sunday morning, July 19, in the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services. Since 1996, he has lived in Lancaster, PA, where he served as senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church. In more recent years he has served as Director of New Church Development, a ministry of church planting and renewal in Pennsylvania. His current ministry involves serving as an interim pastor, helping local congregations navigate the transition of calling new pastors. He is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Bible, and he holds the degree of Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He also studied at Denver Seminary.
We fondly remember Pastor Tim as a teacher, leader, counselor, encourager and friend. It will be good to see him again and to hear him communicate the Word of God.
